Emilio Restoy

Ricardo Migueláñez. @rmiguelanez

We continue our monthly series, taking a look at the lives and track records of leaders in the agri-food sector, with Emilio Restoy, CEO and Managing Director of Zamora Company.

This 100% family-owned company, now run by its third generation, is specialized in wines and liquors. It operates in more than 60 markets and has a portfolio of brands with notable scope for growth.

Restoy was born in Cartagena in 1969. He obtained his Chemical Engineering degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona and from the UCLA Anderson School of Business.

Before joining the Zamora Company, Restoy obtained international experience working at multinational companies in the technology and consumer market segments, such as PepsiCo, Maxxium UK, and CRM-BBDO France. He worked in marketing, management and sales.

As a member of the Zamora Group, Restoy undertook responsibilities in the marketing department, the functions of sales representative and regional director, and management of the sales division in Spain. He was also the commercial director of a joint venture with Maxxium in Spain before becoming managing director of Zamora Company Spain. He then became the director of Zamora Company International, responsible for the group's expansion abroad. He has been CEO and Managing Director of Zamora Company since 2010.

He's also Senior Vice President of the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Federation of Spirits (FEBE).

Outside of the workplace, Restoy has the same interests as his father, his greatest hero. He likes sailing, music and spending time with his family. He has three daughters, and being with them and his wife in the great outdoors is one of his favorite things to do. This past summer, they traveled around Iceland in an RV.

As can be expected, he's very in tune with his roots and his homeland. Cartagena, his birth city, is very important for him and his family. They've always believed in the importance of helping the less fortunate through local organizations, and specifically meeting their basic needs, providing food and training. He's also involved in boosting culture locally, investing in regional traditions and supporting cultural activities.

People who know him say he's a very dynamic person and is extremely focused on his job. He's also passionate about marketing and brands, which leads him to start countless related projects within the company. He has the personality of a leader, and he is warm, friendly, and very polite.

Those who know him best say that Zamora Company is a reflection of Emilio Restoy's personality.
