El Pozo Alimentos leads a research project to demonstrate that the consumption of cured ham provides cardiovascular benefits through the modulation of blood pressure and glycidic and cholesterol metabolism in humans.
Participating in the project, together with ElPozo Food, the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC) and the Catholic University San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM). The research arises as a result of the interesting results previously obtained by the UCAM and that demonstrated the beneficial effect of certain peptides present in the cured ham ElPozo. This initiative is subsidized by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness through the 2017 Challenges collaboration call, which has the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the Operational program to promote technological development, innovation and a quality research
The project, with a duration of three years, wants to demonstrate that the usual consumption of cured ham ElPozo can improve cardiovascular health due to the contribution of bioactive peptides, which may be able to regulate blood pressure, as well as reduce blood glucose and plasma cholesterol
ElPozo Alimentos is a pioneer in healthy eating, thanks to its permanent commitment to research and innovation. It collaborates with universities and scientific associations throughout Spain in research projects that, like this one, contribute to improving the health and well-being of the population as a whole.
