Grupo Gourmetswas founded in 1976as the first publishing house to specialize in gastronomy, launching the Club de Gourmets magazine. Over the years, the magazine has borne witness to the development of Spanish gastronomy and become a leading publication for the entire sector.
Since the very beginning, the magazine has been an independent, objective, unstoppable resource, responsible for reflecting on the current state of gastronomy. But the company went one step further. Ten years later, in 1987, it created Salón de Gourmets, the leading gourmet food and beverage fair in Europe.
Salón de Gourmets is an annual fair aimed at professionals, hosted in Madrid for the last 28 years. The first editions were held at the Casa de Campo Convention Center in Madrid, although the fair is currently held at IFEMA, the Trade Fair Institution of Madrid.
Looking back, the first edition was a resounding success, bringing together 73 exhibitors and attracting 8,000 visitors. According to figures for the most recent edition, Salón de Gourmets saw 1,134 exhibitors and 79,959 visitors in 2014.
Salón de Gourmets 2015
The next Salón de Gourmets, its 29th edition, will be held from April 13th to the 16th. Madrid will be the "Gastronomic Capital" once again, a leader both in and outside Spain.Portugal will be the country of honor this year.
The Salón remains a top event in its industry in Europe, and around 1,300 exhibitors are expected to participate in international, national, regional and individual pavilions.Exhibitors are companies involved in manufacturing and producing a range of gourmet food and beverages. There will be products on display from over 20 countries.
In 2016, the Salón will be back for its 30th anniversary—30 years of hard work and persistence which have paid off with an excellent reception by exhibitors, visitors and the media throughout its many editions.
