Aceitunas Torrent, a family-owned company founded in 1898, is a leader in the table olive segment. In 1998, it moved to a 100,000 square meter complex in Aguilar de la Frontera (Córdoba), and since inception it has been staunchly committed to the area's rural development. The company has promoted local hiring through example (85% of its employees live in the region) and through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy, and actively and voluntarily contributes to the improvement of society, creating prosperity for citizens.
Aceitunas Torrent is increasingly involved in the local community and is interested in helping teach children how to eat a healthy diet. To this end, the company sponsored a Cadena Cope Córdoba radio station initiative entitled "Radio School" during the 2013-2014 academic year. The project sought to teach local school kids about the radio, where the company, in turn, taught them healthy living habits.
The company's efforts were recently recognized with several distinctions. In November, it was chosen to represent Córdoba province as a finalist in the AlasAwards for InternationalizationbyAndalusian Enterprise, in the Export Company category, presented by the Andalusian government.
On March 10th, as part of International Women's Day activities, Córdoba's provincial government bestowed on the company the Córdoba Award for Equality. The jury highlighted "its commitment to human value and to hiring women and people at risk of social exclusion." This commitment is visible in the equality policy and code of ethics implemented by the company in recent years.
Passion for olives
The company is also committed to marinating, packaging and selling table olives: whole green and black, pitted, sliced and stuffed, available in various formats in cans and jars.
Since its early days, Aceitunas Torrent has used Córdoba-grown Hojiblanca olives, currently the leading variety in terms of kilograms of table olives produced and exported out of all varieties for sale.
Aceitunas Torrent rolled out an ambitious online strategy in 2013, using its new website and social media to position itself as a pioneer in the agri-food sector.
