Adding value to spanish exports

Mediterranean Food for Germany

The International Trade Fair for Food from the Mediterranean Countries will be held in Düsseldorf in September 2014. The goal is to raise awareness about regional products among a potential market of 148 million people within a 500-kilometer radius of the German city. Three other trade fairs, InterCool, InterMopro and InterMeat, will be held in parallel.

The main fair aims to provide a platform for disseminating information about regional products and their health benefits and added value.

From September 21st to the 23rd, manufacturers, exporters and importers from Mediterranean coastal countries, including Portugal (as it's part of the Iberian Peninsula), are invited to showcase their products in Germany as long as their origin can be authenticated.

The fair seeks to help those producers which, due to a lack of experience, are not prepared to export their products, as well as retail chains which are eager to sell their new, appealing items.

The event will have a designated area for retailers to exhibit their wares and elaborate on their strengths and unique qualities with respect to other products.

The fair will also include an Olive Oil Forum, where its benefits and advantages will be highlighted. Olive oil sales have doubled in Germany and the UK in recent years.

Another activity is called Showcase, specifically for DO and PDO products, which have important ties to culture and tradition and which need a greater platform from which to present their benefits.

The exhibition space spans 5,000 square meters, and between 300 and 400 exhibitors are expected to participate.
