Adding value to spanish exports

Rafa Nadal lends his image to Alimentos de España

Wiki Spanish Food editorial team

Rafa Nadal loves his olives. He says so in his biography. But the Mallorcan tennis star, who has won 14 Grand Slam titles, recently went one step further in supporting Spanish gastronomy, becoming the international image of Alimentos de España.

The campaign, presented on March 30th by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, focuses on four products: ham, wine, olive oil and table olives.

"Incomparable, unbeatable, invincible." One of the videos combines a series of images, of Nadal on the court, of someone carving ham, and of a family dressing a salad with olive oil.

The spots also highlight Spain as the leading exporter of table olives, Ibérico ham and olive oil. The campaign slogan is "Born in Spain. Admired around the world".

According to data from the Ministry, agri-food, fishing and forest product exports reached an all-time high in 2014, accounting for 17% of all foreign trade, ahead of the automobile and chemical industries.

Rafa Nadal has participated in ads for cars, sports clothing, insurance and watches, and in campaigns for agri-food sector companies, such as Cola Cao and Quely cookies.
