ElPozo Alimentación reported a 24.7% increase in exports in 2014, reinforcing its international presence. The company sells its products in more than 80 countries, and aims to strengthen its position in geographies with notable potential, such as Asia and Eastern Europe, while continuing to enter new markets.
ElPozo Alimentación increased revenues in 2014 by 9.1% year-on-year as a result of good export performance, brand positioning and innovation in high added-value products which also contribute to well-being and health.
The workforce increased by 5.3% in 2014, to 3,876 people at its headquarters in Alhama de Murcia, and the company also has an additional 20,000 indirect employees. These numbers reflect ElPozo's firm commitment to creating social wealth by offering stable, quality employment.
Capital expenditure amounted to 36 million euros, and focused mainly on increasing productivity and innovation in all areas with a view to strengthening its competitiveness in an increasingly global market. Investment in R&D and innovation accounted for more than 1% of total revenues. Product launches in 2014, such as espetec (a type of sausage), sliced pork loaf, mortadella and, in particular, turkey bacon, which are all part of the BienStar line and are made with less fat, have been extremely popular with consumers.
ElPozo Alimentación is a healthy food pioneer in Spain's meat sector, with its BienStar and All Natural product lines, and its Extratiernos line of fresh pork, Ibérico pork, turkey, chicken and beef, which are the result of ongoing R&D and innovation focused on meeting the needs of consumers, who increasingly want healthy products. The company also makes gluten-free products for people with celiac disease, of which there are around 500,000 in Spain.
