Matarromera Reserva 2010 has been awarded a Double Gold Medal and was chosen as the best wine made from Tempranillo grapes at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Convention (WSWA), held in Orlando (Florida) from April 12th to the 15th.
This is the 72nd edition of this annual wine exhibition and convention, which brings together leading distributors of wines and spirits in the US. WSWA, founded in 1943, has over 350 member companies which distribute more than 70% of all wines and spirits sold to wholesalers in the United States. At this year's event, 16 wines received a "Best in Show" award, 29 were distinguished with double gold medals, and 196 received distinctions, of which 46 were Spanish wines.
Matarromera Reserva is made entirely from Tempranillo grapes and is aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels. It has a dark, intense cardinal color with purple tones and is clean and bright. It is round, elegant and very complex, with strong notes of very mature black fruit such as mulberry and blackberry, as well as red fruit, balanced with aromas from aging in the barrel such as cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, licorice, leather... It has a very elegant structure with sweet tannins that bring together body and elegance with slight acidity. It has a long, harmonious, elegant and persistent finish.
This wine is available in the best restaurants and shops in Spain and the United States, as well as online, at www.matarromerashop.com
Additionally, three other Matarromera Group wines obtained Silver Medals: Matarromera Crianza 2011, Cyan La Calera 2004 and Emina Crianza 2011.
Matarromera Group products are available in more than 60 countries. Matarromera USA was created at the end of 2010, the company's first subsidiary in New York, from where it distributes and sells its products all over the country. This distinction will enable the company to increase brand awareness and the presence of Matarromera wines in the demanding North American market.
