Matarromera creates Melior 3

Wikispanishfood editorial team

Matarromera Group, a bodega known for its innovation in wine production, has launched Melior 3, a unique red wine that brings together the best of three Castile-León DOs with a long-standing winemaking tradition: Cigales, Toro and Ribera del Duero.

Melior 3 is the result of joining three different ways to conceive wine with one common denominator: the Tempranillo grape. This red wine, which spends 12 months in French and American oak barrels and bears the Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla y León seal, brings together the subtleties, elegance and mineral properties of wines from Cigales, the power and structure of wines from Toro, and the structure and longevity of wines from Ribera del Duero. The resulting wine represents the very best of these three winemaking areas.

Melior 3, for which production amounts to 150,000 bottles, is made from a secret coupage from the best terroirs in the area, which include vineyards in Pago de la Calera (Toro), Pago de las Costanas (Cigales) and Pago de Valdebaniego (Ribera del Duero).

This singular wine is made from very special ingredients from Matarromera Group's own wineries in the best areas of the three winemaking regions. That, together with the outstanding team of oenologists from each of the wineries (Valdelosfrailes, Cyan and Matarromera), enables the company to be a pioneer in creating an original wine with these characteristics and to be a groundbreaker, once again, in the industry.
