What's ours, more than ever during the holidays

Those of you who follow us know how important we believe it is to shine a light on our food products and the hard work of professionals and institutions in different parts of the food chain, from production and processing through to sales.

Spain has the best source of Mediterranean products in the world. This we know, and the tourists who visit us each year also know it.

Farm, fish, food and forest product exports expand, year after year. Sales of Spanish food and beverages outside Spain peaked at 27.5 billion euros in 2016, up 8.4%. A good part of this performance is due, unsurprisingly, to typical Christmas products.

During the holidays, consumption of quality products by Spanish households and the catering and foodservice segments skyrockets. Christmas hampers, work luncheons, get-together with friends, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, Three King's Day...

And there's Ibérico pork, a true representative of Marca España, sales of which outside Spain expanded in value by 18.2%, to 2.512 billion euros, in the first part of the year.

Spaniards will also be drinking plenty of wine this holiday season. According to the Spanish Wine Market Observatory, this market registered its best numbers ever in the first half of 2017.

The Spanish turrón and marzipan sector is also pleased with its results this year.

There's also our meat, fish, seafood, cava... Our gastronomy is our best representative. The hard work all year long by different sectors, so that Spanish consumers have the best of everything this time of year, is more than apparent. We should recognize what’s ours, especially during the holidays.
