In this edition of “Who's Who”, we're featuring the CEO of Grupo Lactalis Iberia, José Antonio Lalanda Sanmiguel.
Since he returned to Spain in April 2014, José Antonio Lalanda has been CEO of Grupo Lactalis Iberia and Managing Director of Lactalis Forlasa, the French multinational's cheese division. He's also Chairman of the biotech company Biosearch Life, which is listed on Madrid's Stock Exchange.
He joined the French company more than a decade ago. After working in sales in companies like Gallina Blanca and Pepsi, he was hired as a Sales Director by Lactalis. In 2009, he became Director of the Milk and Beverage Division, a post he held until the multinational assigned him a management position at its subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2012.
He has a law degree from the University of Valladolid, and business degrees from schools such as IESE Business School and ESCP Europe. Originally from Palencia, he speaks four languages (English, French, Italian and Spanish), which has helped boost his career at a company like Grupo Lactalis. The French milk and dairy product giant, which has been functioning for over 80 years, has been operating in Spain since 1983 and expanding nationwide since 2004. Grupo Lactalis Iberia currently employs 2,500 people and owns renowned international brands such as Président, Galbani and Parmalat, and prestigious national brands such as Flor de Esgueva, Gran Capitán, Puleva and El Ventero, among others.
He is close with his family and friends, and spends his free time traveling with his wife and children, alternating between visiting northern Spain and heading off on a sailboat.
Now that the dairy sector in Spain is changing, we wish José Antonio Lalanda a good and fruitful journey heading Grupo Lactalis Iberia.
