Wikispanishfood editorial team

Aceites de Oliva de España brought together the greatest tennis legends, 20 of the city's best chefs and important figures from the world of sports, fashion and culture for the seventh edition of Taste of Tennis NYC.

Some big stars at this event, which is held in conjunction with the US Open, included Rafael Nadal, Ambassador for  Aceites de Oliva de España, and renowned international chef Marcus Samuelsson, who recently won the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award.  Both had a good time preparing a recipe in which the main ingredient was Spanish extra virgin olive oil. Prestigious New York chefs also participated in the event, showing off their culinary skills at what was an unforgettable experience for everyone who attended.

This event was the start of an intense promotional campaign rolled out by the  Interprofesional del Aceite de Oliva Español, through its Aceites de Oliva de España brand in the US. It's also part of the initiative entitled Born in Spain, Admired Around the World, for which tennis star Rafa Nadal is ambassador.

Minister Isabel García Tejerina was responsible for presenting the two main stars of the event: our most popular tennis player, Rafael Nadal, and famed chef Marcus Samuelsson. The Minister highlighted the visibility the action would provide to Marca España in the US. Pedro Barato, President of the Interprofesional del Aceite de Oliva Español, underlined the virtues that Nadal represents and which are reflected in Spanish olive oils, such as quality, hard work, success and leadership.

This campaign, which is supported by Spain's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, has already been to Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and Russia, and will soon head to China.
