In this week's edition of Who's Who, we're featuring Alberto Rodriguez-Toquero, CEO of Mahou-San Miguel Group. Rodriguez-Toquero, who is 53 and from Madrid, is married with four children. He joined the brewery in 2006, and has extensive experience in the beverage sector, having worked at Coca-Cola.
He has a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid (1985) and an MBA from IE Business School. He started at Coca-Cola group in 1986, where he held several executive posts until eventually becoming part of the management team in Spain from 2000 to 2003.
He left the group when they proposed taking a job abroad, and he worked for a time at the advertising agency Arnold Worldwide Spain, where he was CEO for the last two years.
His colleagues describe his as polite and courteous, and somewhat shy. He is also said to be very meticulous in his work, rigorous in management issues, and skilled at communicating his ideas without being overbearing.
He has been vice-president of FIAB (Spanish Food and Drink Industry Federation) since 2008, responsible for the Environment and Budget Control Area. He has been a member of the Brewers of Spain's steering committee since 2006, coinciding with his rise up the ranks of Mahou-San Miguel Group.
On a personal note, he is passionate about sports, especially padel, golf and yoga. He also loves music and dining with friends.
He is a homebody and a family man, and he spends his summers in Jávea with his wife and children, which he considers to be one of the best ways to spend his time away from the office.
Rumor has it that he was held in such high regard at Coca-Cola that, on his last day, he was applauded when he left, evidence of the company's affection and gratitude.
