Until the Coca-Cola bottling companies merged in Spain, she was hardly known by the general public, but since then Sol Daurella Comadrán has started to appear in the media regularly. She exemplifies the strong and powerful businesswoman, and her reach stretches beyond the agri-food sector.
Daurella was born in Barcelona in 1996, and she is the granddaughter and daughter of Catalonian businessmen. She holds a degree in Business and obtained an MBA from ESADE Business School. She also has a Master's in Finance and Investment from the University of Berkeley.
She is married to Carles Vilarrbí Carrió (Vice-President of FC Barcelona), and is considered one of Spain's most influential businesswomen and Catalonia's most powerful woman. According to Forbes magazine, she is the 17th richest person in Spain.
She is currently Chairman of Coca-Cola Iberian Partners, the company resulting from the merger of all Coca-Cola bottling companies in Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
Daurella is also a member of the Board of Directors of Vifilfell, the Icelandic franchisee for The Coca-Cola Company brands, and The Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company, which spans several African countries.
She is a shareholder of Banco Sabadell, and was a director until last year, and is currently a member of Banco Santander's Board of Directors. She also has investments in Ebro Food.
Daurella has been Icelandic Consul General in Barcelona since 1992, is a member of the city's The Circle of Economy board, and is a trustee of the Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall and ESADE Business School.
She is committed to solidarity projects, such as the Private Foundation for Cancer Study and Research (FERO) and the SHE Foundation, which aims to prevent cardiovascular disease, in addition to supporting other causes.
In this particular case, it has been practically impossible to learn about Daurella's preferences and hobbies, as she is very discreet and keeps her public and private lives separate.
She likes music and sports, and before moving to Barcelona, she would often book hotels near El Retiro park in Madrid to go running. She is also an experienced horsewoman who has participated in, and won, many competitions. Daurella is also a fan of golf.
Given her leading role in Spain's agri-food industry, and her outstanding executive skills, Sol Daurella Comadrán had to be included in our Who's Who series.
