Grupo Fuertes to join ICEX

Grupo Fuertes, a holding company comprising more than 20 companies, including agri-food firm ElPozo Alimentación (which operates in 82 countries), has been chosen by the Ministry of Economy as one of the 28 large Spanish companies that will join ICEX's Strategic Orientation Council, an advisory body that will advise companies, especially SMEs outside Spain.

The president of the holding, Tomás Fuertes, will represent the company and will be part of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce's Plenary Session, a new institution based on the  Higher Council of the Chamber of Commerce whose rights will be subrogated. This body will meet by 15 December and will elect the Spanish Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee, to be comprised of a chairman, three vice-chairmen, a treasurer and 27 members.

Other companies on the Council include Freixenet, BSH, Renault, Airbus, Iberdrola, ACS, FCC, Técnicas Reunidas, Volkswagen, Repsol, Inditex, El Corte Inglés, Mercadona, Mango, Meliá, Barceló, RIU, Telefónica, Indra, BBVA, CaixaBank, Santander, Mapfre, Planeta, Almirall, Asisa and Alfonso X el Sabio University.

Other companies on the Council include Freixenet, BSH, Renault, Airbus, Iberdrola, ACS, FCC, Técnicas Reunidas, Volkswagen, Repsol, Inditex, El Corte Inglés, Mercadona, Mango, Meliá, Barceló, RIU, Telefónica, Indra, BBVA, CaixaBank, Santander, Mapfre, Planeta, Almirall, Asisa and Alfonso X el Sabio University.

These companies will design and execute internationalization and competitiveness plans to improve the efficiency of Spanish companies, especially SMEs outside Spain.

Grupo Fuertes' experience abroad includes a holding in Russia via local partner Grupo Cherkizovo, a leader in Russia's meat market, and a 160 million euro investment in a turkey production plant, Tambovskaia Indeika, in the region of Tambov, which will create a thousand direct jobs and will be fully operational by the end of 2015.
